Introduced on May 1, this year’s summer fishing moratorium has ended in the South China Sea, with swarms of fishing boats sailing off from the southern Chinese coast on August 16. China has imposed an annual fishing ban in the South China Sea since 1999 to promote sustainable marine fisheries and improve the ecology of the waters.
